why I watch them religiously.

I’m back in the middle of pre-production again this week, prepping two editorials for Fall Fashion issues for two different magazines. Stay tuned for details. The more I find out, the more I’ll let you in on the shoots!  But in the meantime,  I really want to share with you some amazing websites that are chocked full of very useful information. These are websites that I either follow every day, that I’m subscribed to or that I visit frequently. The people that run these sites aren’t friends of mine, I don’t know them, most sites I’m not linked to so this isn’t some shameless promotional post with all my “blog buddies” getting a shout out. These are websites that I use to help my own photography career. So let’s get started, shall we? I’ve listed the link and why I favor it so much. And do me and your other fellow readers a favor: list your favorite link or two in the comment section. I think it’s very important to share knowledge and information. Thanks!

Top 3 Img 1

So here it is…what you’ve all been waiting for; no hoax, no blurring, no quick, easy, fast, one-action techniques from your friends at ThePhotoshopGuru .com. Just you sitting in your chair, or on your couch, or in your bed, (the way I like to do it) with your eyes. Let me introduce myself… My name is David Skyler, and if you haven’t heard by now I’m the full time in-house retouch artist/graphic designer/all around tech-geek for Melissa Rodwell and of course her loving husband and business partner. Here are some retouching tips that might lead you in the right direction and help you make your fashion photographs much stronger.

Suburban Occult, Elinchrom, and Steven Meisel

Suburban Occult

David and I recently celebrated the 1 year anniversary of The Fashion Photography Blog! We both want to extend a very warm thank you to all of our readers and subscribers!! I think we’re both a little more than suprised that the blog has done as well as it has in such a short time and continues to grow and gain popularity. But it’s you, the reader, that has made this possible and we’re very grateful to all of you who have been so loyal and enthusiastic towards this blog. We have more things planned for the blog in the coming year including a store where I’ll list books and DVD’s that I recommend and tutorials we offer, plus the seminars that we’re planning on doing every other month in 2010! We’re looking forward to an exciting year ahead of us, so stay tuned!

How to have a good relationship with your agent

JellyHowie

I know….I haven’t written in over two weeks. I don’t like to have such huge gaps of time in between posts, but I had a tiny disaster recently over a shoot and I’ve had to figure out how to work around it. Plus I signed with an Australian agent and have been busy sending her images from just about everything I’ve ever shot so she can edit down what she wants to put up on her site. AND we’ve been knee deep in post from the beauty shoot (sneak peek shown above!) that I wrote about in my last post! So my plate has been full and my attention has been on “damage control” over the small hiccup from a recent shoot. I will write a post soon on how to side step problems, because they do happen and it does come up from time to time. But not today. Today, I’m going to share my thoughts about agents. How to get a good one and then how to keep the good one.

“A Look at the World’s Top Fashion Image Makers”

Okay! Enough about painting and art exhibits! Let’s get back to fashion photography! I’ve compiled a list of my favorite fashion photographers who’s work generally always catches my attention. I am particularly taken with the strength that these photographers possess over two very important things: lighting and capturing the clothes on the models. They are not in any particular order except for the first one; I’d have to say Javier Vallhonrat is my favorite out of all of them.

So who catches your attention? I’d like to know which fashion photographers my readers follow and why!
